Salvador Bahia, Brazil

Actualizado: 30 ene 2024

Here I am again, trying to escape love, and going to Bahia at the same time.

For the first time, I was in Salvador Bahia, one of the most special places in Brazil (the oldest capital). 7 days in Salvador, is it enough?

The answer is yes, there is so much to see, to feel, to enjoy.

Accommodation: 7 days in Bonfim, trying to escape the crowds. I do not recommend it, there is no Uber at night and Barra is around 30 minutes by car. Depending on the month (from March to November), Barra would be the best option.

Beaches: Rio Vermelho, Barra, Olinda, Itapua, Bonfim.

Coffee: casa castanho, preto catcafe, che figo, santa clara. And of course, you can't miss the Ribeira ice cream parlour. (has been in Salvador since 1931) and, for a magical sunset, Morro do Cristo (from 5 pm, don't forget the wine)

What to do during the day? There are many activities to spend the mornings for those who are not beach lovers, one of the best activities is going to the historic center. Walk through the old streets, there are many restaurants, coffee shops, and local music. Among them is the place where Michael Jackson made the video clip: They don't care about us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNJL6nfu__Q

Everywhere you will see the face of Sister Dulce (a very famous nun in Salvador) who has founded several help centers and hospitals, the story is on Netflix.

Salvador has so much story to tell, and so much love, when I wanted to fight for the Airbnb reservation in Bonfim, I remembered how lucky I am to know such special places.

Ah, Bahia.
